Years ago I read a story by Tom Robbins that apparently lodged itself somewhere deep in my nervous system. A woman sits down at a bar and orders asparagus. The man beside her keeps inching closer and she wants absolutely nothing to do with him. Halfway through dinner he leans over and says: "You and I have something very intimate in common that you don't know yet." Suspicious already. "Tomorrow morning our urine will smell exactly the same." Which brings me to an important point: The rubber bands around asparagus may secretly be among the world's finest movement tools. I know. Stay with me. A few weeks ago, before disappearing into the vortex of my giant art project, I filmed a hand sequence with a client using nothing more sophisticated than produce aisle rubber bands. It sat patiently on my hard drive while I disappeared into projections, editing, deadlines, and general creative chaos. Now that I've resurfaced and finally had time to prepare it for public viewing, I remembered why I loved it so much. What started as finger mobility quickly turned into one of those reminders that the body rarely behaves in isolated parts. Activating the hands caused a ripple effect that extended far beyond those tiny joints: shoulders relaxed Because hands aren't just hands. They're nervous system territory. We spend most of our lives typing, texting, gripping steering wheels, scrolling, and communicating with our hands—but compared with how humans evolved, they're oddly underfed. We once climbed. Hung. Swung from branches. Crawled. Used our hands as sensory explorers. And if you don't use it... well, you know the rest. So if you've noticed numb fingers, hand stiffness, carpal tunnel symptoms, neck tension, shoulder issues—or if your hands simply feel a little less curious than they once did—I think you'll enjoy this one. And if your tongue sticks out while concentrating on finger exercises, apparently that's normal too. A couple quick updates while I have you: Many of you have been asking where to find my recent workshops. I still haven't updated the website (story of my life), but all of my latest workshops from 2025–2026 currently live here:
And in a completely different category of nervous system support: my Spring collection of Fancy Pants has been released ! I wanted this collection to feel like a small act of rebellion: loud, bouncy, joyful body positivity holding its ground in the face of a reality that appears increasingly dire. The future may be unpredictable, but a pair of fabulous pants remains a surprisingly stable investment strategy. As always, my pants are designed to take you everywhere and make you feel fabulous while doing it. I regularly hear from people who feel conflicted about buying new pairs because the ones they bought 10, 15—even 20 years ago—still look great, even if emotionally they've been worn out. 😆 I have more styles I hope to add in the coming weeks, but for the moment, if something catches your eye, don't overthink it. Everything coming out of my studio is limited edition and once a fabric disappears, it generally disappears for good.

There’s a particular kind of compliment that bypasses vanity entirely and lands somewhere much deeper. Not because it flatters you…but because it names something you’ve quietly recognized in yourself for a very long time. In a recent review of From Molecule to Movement — the short film Hanif and I created for the Shulgin Foundation about Sasha Shulgin, MDMA, and the strange, beautiful collision between chemistry, therapy, culture, and consciousness - I was described as a “ Movement and Design...
Read time: ~4 minutes Musing: astronauts, somanauts, and inner space Listen: Sasha Shulgin, 1983 Join: April 25 retreat + May 2 exhibit Over the past couple of weeks, something subtle has been moving through my world. A kind of shared pause. A collective exhale. For a brief moment, many of us found ourselves captivated by the language of orbit—liftoff, a release from the pressure of the known atmosphere. The Artemis program became more than a mission, it became a metaphor. For exploration....
Hi Everyone, I’m in the middle of one of those months. At the beginning of the year, the Universe made itself very clear:“You know now that I make better plans than you do. So don’t F this up by making your own plans.” By March, I got impatient. ( In my defense, Reader… I do have bills to pay down here on Earth.)So I made some plans. And now I’m in it. • Yoga Trapeze workshops this weekend.• A beautiful Somatic Retreat coming up on April 25.• And another large-scale art project being...
